Hindu man's house vandalised in Tangail over 'Facebook comment'

The house of a Hindu man was vandalised in Tangail's Sakhipur upazila last night following allegation of a Facebook comment against Muslims.
According to locals and police, the comment by Shankar Saha, 44, a shopkeeper in Barachowna area, created a tense situation in the area. Around 9:30pm, a group of agitated people vandalised Shankar's house, they said.
Shankar told The Daily Star that he lodged a complaint with Sakhipur Police Station in this regard last night.
He claimed in his written complaint that unidentified people hacked his Facebook ID and damaged his social reputation by making objectionable comments on various posts.
He also said no one was at home at the time of the attack.
Jakir Hossain, officer-in-charge of Sakhipur Police Station, said that necessary legal action will be taken after investigation.
Meanwhile, joint forces patrolled the area to avoid any more untoward incident over the matter.
Tangail Superintendent of Police Md Mizanur Rahman said police are vigilant to ensure that no unstable situation is created due to this incident.
