HC stays 3 DSA cases against photojournalist Kajol

The High Court today stayed the trial proceedings against photojournalist Shafiqul Islam Kajol in three cases filed under Digital Security Act.
The bench of Justice ASM Abdul Mobin and Justice Md Atoar Rahman passed the stay order following three separate criminal appeals filed by Kajol, challenging the trial court orders that framed charges against him in the cases.
The HC bench also set July 28 for final hearing of the appeals, Deputy Attorney General Sujit Chatterjee told The Daily Star.
He also said the state will move an appeal before the Appellate Division of the Supreme Court challenging the HC's stay orders.
Lawyer Jyotirmoy Barua appeared for Kajol during hearing of the appeals.
A Dhaka tribunal on November 8 last year framed charges against Kajol in the three cases filed under the Digital Security Act, 2018.
