Hanging body of man found hours after his father returns from hiding since Aug 5

The hanging body of a man was discovered at his home this morning.
The deceased is Wakil Ahmed Onik, 32, a businessman. Around 10:00am today, Onik's household members discovered him hanging from a ceiling fan in his bedroom, with a scarf tied around his neck, said Joypurhat Sadar Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Shahid Al Mamun.
This happened just hours after Onik's father, who had been in hiding since last year's August 5 uprising, returned home.
Onik was the only son of Rafiqul Islam Rafiq, the former general secretary of the Joypurhat Motor Workers' Union. During Rafiqul's absence, Onik managed the family's transport business and operated a clothing store named "Shakkhor Plus" near the town's main road.
Residents said Rafiqul went into hiding after being accused in a case related to the mass uprising. He returned home late last night, and Onik opened the door to welcome him.
The tragedy unfolded the following morning when the house help, after receiving no response to her calls, entered Onik's room and discovered his lifeless body. She alerted the household, prompting Rafiqul and other tenants to rush to the scene and bring the body down.
A neighbour expressed disbelief, saying, "Onik was a kind person. It's hard to understand why he would take his own life. He welcomed his father home just last night, and now this—it's beyond comprehension."
OC Shahid said, "We reached the scene and intended to send the body for an autopsy, but the family raised objections."
