E-cigarettes worth over Tk 10 lakh seized at Chattogram airport

Authorities at Shah Amanat International Airport in Chattogram today seized a large quantity of e-cigarettes and related accessories from a passenger arriving from Abu Dhabi.

Passenger Mohammad Ayub, hailing from Satkania in Chattogram, was detained first and later released through legal procedure via the DM (detention memo). His contraband items were confiscated.

Engineer Md Ibrahim Kalil, public relations official of the airport, said the seizure took place around 7:10am when the airport's National Security Intelligence (NSI) team, based on secret information, intercepted Ayub, a passenger of US-Bangla Airlines flight BS-350, while crossing the green channel.

Upon inspection, 20 e-cigarettes, 490 refill liquids, 280 cigarette cartridges, and 30 coils for e-cigarettes were seized from his luggage, the airport official said, adding that the products seized are worth over Tk 10 lakh.
