3 of a family stabbed, valuables looted by miscreants in Moulvibazar

Miscreants stabbed three members of a family and looted cash, gold ornaments and goods worth about Tk 16 lakh from their house in Moulvibazar's Juri upazila early today.
The victims are Abdul Motalib, 36, his wife Roksana Begum, 30, and brother Abdul Aziz, 26. Of them, Motalib is an expatriate. He recently returned to the country.
According to other family members, around 3:00am, a group of six people carrying different types of weapons broke into their house.
They first attacked Motalib with a sharp weapon, saying, "Let's settle the case."
When his wife Roksana tried to protect him, they stabbed and injured her. The attackers also threatened to take their life if the family file a case. Then they went to the next room and stabbed Abdul Aziz.
Later, they broke into cupboards and drawers in various rooms and looted about Tk 1 lakh in cash, 10 bhori gold ornaments, five smartphones and new clothes bought for Eid-ul-Fitr.
Motalib's mother Hasna Begum said that there has been a long-standing dispute with a neighbour over the road in front of their house in the Halgara area of Goalbari union in Juri.
She said, there is a case filed over the dispute. Since the miscreants mentioned the case during the attack, they suspect that the neighbour may be behind this incident.
Morshedul Alam Bhuiyan, officer-in-charge (OC) of Juri Police Station, said that the injured persons will file a written complaint after returning from the hospital.
