Two killed in Thakurgaon road crash

Two youths were killed and four others injured in a head-on collision between a three-wheeler and a potato-laden truck in Thakurgaon's Sadar upazila last night.

The deceased were identified as Arfan, 23, and Joyanta Roy, 29.

Quoting locals, Sub-Inspector Md Babul of Thakurgaon Sadar Police Station said the accident took place around 8:30pm when a three-wheeler collided head-on with the truck on Thakurgaon-Baliadangi road in Lakkhipur Debadangi village, leaving Joyanta dead on the spot.

Locals rescued the injured and took them to Thakurgaon 250-bed Modern Hospital, where Arfan succumbed to his injuries.

The injured were Aklima, 22, Mohsina Begum, 45, Jannat, 3, and Murad, 24, the SI said, adding that they were referred to Rangpur Medical College Hospital.

Police seized the truck, but the driver and his helper managed to flee, the SI said, adding that a case was filed with the police station in this connection.
