In Malibagh, Palash Molla, 45, a motorcyclist, was run over by a bus, while Abdul Mannan, 61, a businessman in Elephant Road, was critically injured hit by a motorcycle.

Both incidents occurred around 5:30pm, and the victims were declared dead at Dhaka Medical College Hospital (DMCH) later in the evening.

Syed Zulfiqar and Md Faisal, two witnesses in Malibagh incidents said Palash was riding his motorcycle down the Malibagh-Moghbazar flyover's Chowdhurypara slope when a Victor Paribahan bus ran over him, trapping him underneath.

Pedestrians managed to pull him out and rushed him to a local hospital before he was transferred to DMCH, where doctors pronounced him dead around 7:00pm, according to witness.

Agitated locals then seized the bus and beat the driver before handing him over to police, they said.

Rezwan Sharif, deceased Palash's nephew, said Palash hails from Narail's Kalia upazila and lived in South Banasree in Dhaka.

He was the owner of "Binimoy Money Exchange" in Motijheel. He left behind a son and a daughter, said Rezwan.

Meanwhile, Abdul Mannan, a tailor shop owner, was hit by a motorcycle while crossing the Elephant Road near BS Bhaban.

He got entangled with the bike and was dragged nearly 100 yards before falling, according to witnesses.

Later, he was taken to DMCH, where doctors declared him dead. The motorcyclist, who was also injured, fled the hospital.

Mannan, who hails from Gaibandha's Sadar upazila, lived in Jigatola's Tollabagh area.

He owned "Pentagon Tailors" at Elephant Road. Family members said he had lost his wife three months ago. He is survived by a son and a daughter.
