Teenager killed in easy bike-motorcycle collision in Shariatpur

A teenager died today after suffering injuries when an easy bike hit his motorcycle in Shariatpur Sadar upazila.

The deceased, Alreza Islam Rohan, 18, was a 12th grade student of the humanities group of Majid Zarina Foundation School and College.

He died while undergoing treatment at a private hospital in Dhaka early today, said Helal Uddin, officer-in-charge of Shariatpur Sadar Model Police Station.

Rohan was the son of Zahid Sheikh, an engineer of Shariatpur's Education Engineering Department.

The accident took place near the upazila fire service station around 4:30pm yesterday, OC Helal Uddin said.

Quoting locals, the OC said that the easy bike was overtaking another battery-run auto-rickshaw when it hit Rohan's motorcycle that was coming from the opposite direction.

The body was taken to Shariatpur in the morning, and it was later buried at Rohan's ancestral home in Faridpur around 2:00pm.

Shariatpur Superintendent of Police Md Nazrul Islam said legal action will be taken if a complaint is filed in this connection.
