Man dies in Shariatpur road crash while returning from Dhaka airport with expat brother

A man was killed in a road accident in Shariatpur early today while returning home after receiving his expat brother from the Dhaka airport.

The deceased was identified as Kawsar Majhi, 26, son of late Barek Majhi of Damudya upazila of the district, reports our local correspondent quoting Sheikh Shariful Alam, officer-in-charge of Damudya Police Station.

The accident took place around 2:00am today in Majhertek area of Kaneshwar union of the upazila.

"Kawsar, along with five members of his family, was returning home in Shariatpur from Dhaka's Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport with his Singapore expatriate brother Al Amin. At around 2:00am, the driver of the private car carrying them lost control of the vehicle and fell into a road-side pond," said the OC.

"Locals along with the patrolling police of Damudya Police Station rescued and rushed them to Damudya Upazila Health Complex," the OC said, adding that Kawsar died on the way to the hospital. The other injured are admitted at the hospital.

The accident occurred due to low visibility caused by dense fog, said the OC.
