Karail slum fire doused

A fire that broke out at Karail slum in Dhaka's Mohakhali area this afternoon has been doused after an hour of frantic effort.

The fire originated at the slum around 4:30pm, said Khaleda Yasmin, duty officer of Fire Service and Civil Defence Control Room.

On information, nine firefighting units rushed to the spot and doused the fire around 5:33pm, the official said.

The cause of the fire could not be known immediately.
