Boat capsize: 3 more bodies recovered from Kirtankhola river

Three more bodies were recovered from the Kirtankhola river today, bringing the death toll to four after a speedboat collided with an anchored sand-laden barge in Barishal on December 5.

A five-member team, including four divers of the Barishal River Fire Station, recovered the three bodies while conducting a rescue operation today.

Sheikh Md Nazrul Islam, leader of the fire station, said that the body of Alamin Hossain, 20, of Bhola Sadar upazila, was recovered from near Beltola ghat around 8:00am. Later around 9:00am, the bodies of Mohammad Imran Hossain, 24, of Bhola Sadar and Md Russell Sikder, 24, of Kalapara, were recovered.

Earlier on December 5, a passenger carrying speedboat collided with the barge near Bishwa Hat in Barishal Sadar upazila, resulting in the sinking of the speedboat. One death was confirmed at the time.

According to the fire service, one person is still missing. The operation will continue until the missing Sajal Das, 32, of Rahmatpur, is found, they said.
