3 die as bus, auto-rickshaw collide in Chandpur

Three people were killed when a CNG-run auto-rickshaw collided with a bus in Ghosherhat area of Chandpur Sadar upazila early today.

The deceased were identified as Md Habib Bepari, 26, Nesar Howlader, 40, and Mahbub Pradhania, 50.

Meanwhile, injured Zakir Hossain, 22, was admitted to a hospital, reports our local correspondent quoting Abdur Rashid, officer-in-charge of Chandpur Model Police Station.

"The incident took place in Ghosherhat area on the Chandpur-Cumilla regional highway early in the morning. A Chandpur-bound auto-rickshaw collided head on with a bus while trying to overtake a parked car. Three passengers of the auto-rickshaw were killed on the spot," said the OC.

On information, police recovered the bodies and sent them to Sadar Hospital's morgue. Police seized both the vehicles, he said.
