Man sent to jail for raping son’s wife in Bogura

A 48-year-old man was sent to jail today in a case filed over raping his son's wife for the last two years in Shibganj upazila of Bogura.

Police arrested the accused Milon Miah, a local sand trader, from Biharhat area of the upazila last night after the 18-year-old victim filed a rape case with the Shibganj Police Station against him yesterday, said police.

A court in Bogura sent Milon to jail after police produced him before it this afternoon, said SM Badiuzzaman, officer-in-charge of Shibganj Police Station.

The victim also gave her statement before the court and her medical test was done too, our Bogura correspondent reports quoting the OC.

According to the case statement, the girl got married to the accused's son four years ago. Her husband is a transport worker, and he has to go for work at night. Taking advantage of his absence, the girl said Milon had been raping her for the last two years and threatened her with death if she disclosed the matter to anyone.

Despite the threat, she narrated the incident to her husband, mother-in-law and her parents in July this year, but nothing much came out of it, said the case statement.

Later, she left her in-laws' house and has been living with her parents for the last three months.

The victim came to the police station last night and file a rape case against her father-in-law, said OC SM Badiuzzaman.
