Khagrachhari reports first Covid-19 case

Local administration in Khagrachhari today reported the first case of Covid-19 in the district.

The patient, from Dighinala upazila of Khagrachhari, tested positive for coronavirus according to the report which arrived today, said Tonoy Taluker, Dighinala upazila health and family planning officer.

The person, a garment worker in Narayanganj, returned home on April 18 and has been under institutional quarantine at Kamukkyechhara Govt Primary School in the upazila, the official said.

Samples were collected and sent for test after showing symptoms of Covid-19 several days ago, Tonoy said.

Law enforcers and administration officials have visited the quarantine centre, said Muhammad Ullah, Dighinala upazila nirbahi officer (UNO).

Contacts of the patients have been traced and placed in quarantine, the UNO said, adding that those who are quarantined at the same facility will be tested for the virus.
