Mash and the other captains meet Queen Elizabeth

Bangladesh captain Mashrafe Bin Mortaza met Britain's Queen Elizabeth II and Prince Harry with the rest of the cricket captains by his side yesterday ahead of the World Cup.

 The World Cup will get underway today (Thursday) with the match between England and South Africa at 3:30 pm Bangladesh time  and the meeting took place ahead of the World Cup opening party at The Mall, in front of Buckingham Palace in central London, on Wednesday.

The event was followed by the opening party, hosted by former England all-rounder Andrew Flintoff. The event started with the introduction of captains of all 10 participating teams, followed by 60-second challenge. Hosts England scored 74 runs, four more than Australia's 69, and won the challenge. Cricketer Abdur Razzak and actress Jaya Ahsan represented Bangladesh in the challenge and finished above India (19 pts) with 22 points.

After the challenge, former Australia skipper Michael Clarke, who lifted the trophy in 2015, brought the glittering trophy on the stage. The event ended with the ICC World Cup 2019 theme song.
