A project to mitigate undernutrition in women, children

The Hunger Project (THP) will work to mitigate undernutrition in women and children under five, across 32 unions of five upazilas under Naogan, Mymensingh, Bagerhat and Khulna.
For this, a project titled "THP Global Nutrition Initiative (TGNI)" will be implemented until February 2028 under the Institute of Public Health Nutrition (IPHN) of the health directorate.
An MoU was signed between THP and IPHN in this regard at an event yesterday.
Badiul Alam Majumdar, Country Director of the THP and Dr Shah Golam Nabi, Director of the IPHN signed the MoU on behalf of their organisation.
Dr Rasheda Sultana, Additional Director General of the health directorate and Dr Md Aktereuzzaman, additional secretary (Public Health Wing) at the health ministry were present during the signing ceremony.
The project will focus on empowering local communities to adopt multiple micronutrient supplementation; practice seven essential nutrition actions; and implement water, hygiene and sanitation strategies.
Speaking at the event, Dr Shah Golam Nabi said, "I hope we can take this project to a larger scale."
Dr Md Akteruzzaman said, "We hope the project will help improve the nutrition status of the women and children."
