Dengue cases cross 10,000 mark this year

At least 233 more dengue patients were hospitalised in the last 24 hours till 8:00 am today, according to the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS). This brings the total number of dengue cases this year to 10,090.

Among the 233 new cases, 20 are from outside Dhaka.

Approximately 7,432 out of the total infected were diagnosed in August alone.

At least 2,286 patients were hospitalised in July, 272 in June, and 43 were infected in May, according to the DGHS.

Forty-two people have died of dengue infection in the country this year. Twelve people died in July, while 30 died in August so far.
