8 more children die with measles-like symptoms in 24 hours

Eight more children have died of measles-like symptoms across the country in 24 hours till 8:00am today, according to the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS).

During the same period, the number of suspected measles cases was 1,033.

Since March 15, the total number of suspected measles cases stood at 69,612.

In 24 hours, 53 cases were confirmed as measles, bringing the total number of confirmed measles cases since March 15 to 8,996.

From March 15, a total of 55,705 patients with suspected measles were admitted to hospitals. During the same period, 52,050 patients recovered and were discharged from hospital.

Since March 15, the number of deaths among suspected measles cases has reached 493. During the same period, 90 deaths have been confirmed as resulting from measles.

So far, the highest number of suspected measles cases has been reported in the Dhaka division, where 32,908 people have been identified as suspected cases. Of these, 6,261 cases have been confirmed as measles.
