Four arrested for abducting garment factory employee in Gazipur
Members of Rapid Action Battalion have arrested four people including a couple for their alleged involvement in abducting an official of a garment factory in Gazipur.
They also seized three sharp weapons, 10 mobile phones, eight SIM cards and cash from the arrestees' possession last night, our Gazipur correspondent reports.
The arrestees are: Sabuj Haolader, 33, his wife Sharmin Akhter, 25, residents of Gazipur city; and two of their aides – Rasel Mia, 30, and Hafizur Rahman, 32, of Kashimpur in Sadar upazila.
The arrests were made from Tongi's Gazipur area around 10:00pm yesterday.
Gazipur Rab-1 In-Charge Lt Commander Abdullah Al Mamun said that Ruhul Amin, 45, a senior manager of quality control department of Aptech Group, was abducted on December 15 last year.
The four abductors in a microbus picked up Ruhul Amin when he was waiting for a bus at Kashimpur's Charaborty area, the Rab official said.
They took him in Shalbon area, tied him up to a tree, and tortured him, he said adding that they called his family and demanded ransom of Tk 5 lakh from them.
Ruhul Amin's family paid Tk one lakh to the abductors through bKash. Later his family members filed a written complaint with Kashimpur Police Station and sought legal action from Rab-1.
