651 birds rescued
A total of 651 birds of different species have been rescued from Savar and the capital's Kamrangirchar.
The Wildlife Crime Control Unit (WCCU) of Bangladesh Forest Department rescued the birds during separate drives at Itkhola and Zirabo in Savar, on the outskirts of Dhaka, and Kamrangirchar in the capital this morning, said Ashim Mallick, wildlife inspector.
The birds include: 210 munias, 420 parrots and 21 doves, our Savar correspondent reports.
The rescued birds were released at National Botanical Garden in the capital's Mirpur area, the forest official said.
None was arrested during the drives.
