Rain likely across northern regions

The Bangladesh Meteorological Department (BMD) has forecast rain or thundershowers at many places in Rangpur, Rajshahi, and Mymensingh divisions over the next 24 hours beginning at 9:00am today.

"Light to moderate rain or thundershowers are likely to occur at most places over Rangpur, Rajshahi, and Mymensingh divisions," BMD's morning bulletin said.

Daytime temperatures may fall by one to two degrees Celsius, while night-time temperatures are expected to decrease slightly across the country, it added.

The BMD further reported that the deep depression over Andhra Pradesh and adjoining areas had weakened into a depression over Chhattisgarh early this morning, before turning into a well-marked low-pressure area around 6:00am today.

It is likely to move northwards and gradually weaken further.

Yesterday's highest temperature was recorded in Ramgati at 35.8 degrees Celsius, while the lowest temperature today was 22.0 degrees Celsius in Tetulia.

In Dhaka, the sun will set at 5:21pm today and rise at 6:04am tomorrow.
