Cyclone “Sitrang” may hit coastal areas with 3-5ft high tidal surges
The cyclone will hit 730 kilometre-long coastal areas in 19 districts of the country with three to five feet high tidal surges, State Minister for Ministry of Disaster Management and Relief Enamur Rahman has said.
It may hit Bangladesh's coastal areas between October 24 midnight and October 25 evening at the speed of 90-100 kilometre per hour, the minister said while briefing the media at the secretariat today (October 23, 2022).
"The low is yet to turn into a cyclone. If it turns into a cyclone, it will be named Sitrang," he said.
It will not be a "super cyclone", the minister said.
The state minister also said they have prepared shelter centres and already send dry foods to the districts.
