We have just around 200-350 wild elephants
Elephants were abundant in Bangladesh even a century ago. Its number has dropped down to 200 to 350 presently, according to the forest department. Up to 30% of Bangladesh’s elephant population is transient, migrating over the borders into neighboring India or Myanmar.
The highest number of elephants in Bangladesh resides in the northern Hill Tracts (60-65).
Elephants in Bangladesh grow to 10 feet high at the shoulder, have small ears, and domed forehead, and a sloping back. They only have one “finger” at the end of the trunk.
