Mrunal Thakur became a national sensation with her Telugu debut film, "Sita Ramam", in which she portrayed the sweet and charming Sita Mahalakshmi, deeply in love with Lt Ram (Dulquer Salmaan). Despite achieving massive popularity in India, the actress still frequently takes on small roles in OTT productions.

In an interview with an Indian media outlet, the actress discussed how she isn't insecure about the screen space, as challenging storytelling comes first for her.

Mrunal has been involved in numerous OTT projects, mostly featuring in web anthologies, with roles in one of the four stories in "Ghost Stories" (2020), "Lust Stories 2", and one episode of "Made in Heaven 2".

"'You are a heroine, why would you put yourself in a position where you are only playing a small role, almost like a guest appearance in someone else's film?' Filmmakers frequently ask me this question, something I had never considered, nor do I wish to dwell on," revealed the actress.

According to the 31-year-old, her approach to acting prioritises "a passion for storytelling" over the duration of her role.

"An actor's biggest challenge is to deliver a compelling performance in as little time as they can," said the actress.

She then cited the late actor Irrfan as an example, someone she deeply admires. "One of the best examples of this, and someone I idolise, is Irrfan sir. He began with small roles and limited screen time but still left an impression on people's hearts. He is my inspiration and screen space has never been a concern for me," added the actress.

The actress, who has appeared in films, such as "Batla House" (2019), "Toofan" (2021), "Jersey" (2022), and "Gumrah", goes on to emphasise that participating in short stories within anthologies doesn't diminish the effort put in by the crew.
