Why can't a heroine play the role of a mother?: Pori Moni
Pori Moni was 4 months pregnant when she started working on Aranya Anawer's film "Maa." When the film was announced everyone was shocked as they didn't expect Pori Moni donning the role of a mother.
Recently, the actress shared a video where she talked about her journey of transforming into Bina as she worked throughout her pregnancy period for the film.
"When it was announced that I will act in 'Maa', there was this headline in an article which said Pori Moni breaks taboo. I was really curious as to what was written there and it said that it was really brave of the actress to play the role of a mother. I realised at that time that it would be really challenging to play the role," said the actress.
Director Aranya Anawer revealed that there is this misconception in the industry that an artiste who takes up the role of mother can't have the image of a heroine.
"I really couldn't understand why can't a heroine play the role of a mother. Why do people have this idea that playing the role of a mother would stereotype them?," added the actress.
Coincidentally, the actress became pregnant and the directors were left in confusion with what to do as they were almost done with the first slot of shooting. The director even thought of replacing Pori Moni but the actress was adamant on completing the film.
During the shooting of the film, there were tons of crises including Pori Moni and Razz suffering from high fever and Pori Moni's vomiting problem. However, the "Gunin" actress was determined to give her best and thus the film was completed.
Recently, the promo and the poster of the film has been released. The liberation war-based film is scheduled to be released in theaters on May 19. The shooting of the film started in January last year.
The film also stars Azad Abul Kalam, Saju Khadem, Farzana Chabi and Shahadat Hossain among others.
