Timothée Chalamet to do his own singing for Bob Dylan biopic
Timothée Chalamet is preparing to play Bob Dylan on the big screen, and he will be using his own voice to sing.
In a recent interview with Collider, while attending the Star Wars Celebration in London, director James Mangold gave a sneak preview of his upcoming biopic, "Bob Dylan".
The director spoke about the historical period in which the movie will be set, saying that he anticipates beginning production in August.
"It's such an amazing time in American culture and the story of Bob Dylan, a young 19-year-old who came to New York with like two dollars in his pocket and became a worldwide sensation within three years," said the director.
"It's such an interesting true story at such an interesting moment in the American scene," continued Mangold. "Different characters, from Woody Guthrie to Bob Dylan, to Pete Seeger, to Joan Baez, all have a role to play in this movie."
Back in January 2020, Searchlight officially announced the Bob Dylan movie starring Chalamet. Although Chalamet had been taking guitar lessons in preparation for the part, it was unknown at the time of the announcement if he would perform Dylan's songs.
