Shah Rukh Khan to back out from ‘Don 3’?
The much-anticipated film, "Don 3", has been generating a significant buzz on social media lately. Producer Ritesh Sidhwani had previously confirmed that Farhan Akhtar is actively involved in the project and informed that an official announcement would follow upon its completion. However, recent reports suggest that Shah Rukh Khan will not be reprising his role in "Don 3".
According to a report by Pinkvilla, Farhan Akhtar and Ritesh Sidhwani had extensive discussions with Shah Rukh Khan regarding "Don 3". Various ideas were explored, and discussions continued even during the pandemic, resulting in a script taking shape. However, Shah Rukh Khan has expressed his reluctance to return as Don at this point in time. He is now inclined towards doing commercial films that appeal to a broader audience, and Don does not align with his future cinematic choices. The source revealed that Shah Rukh Khan has conveyed his decision to the stakeholders at Excel Entertainment.
The source also mentioned that Farhan Akhtar had proposed the concept of featuring three generations of Don, including Amitabh Bachchan, Shah Rukh Khan, and a younger star. However, Shah Rukh Khan did not find the idea suitable and felt that expanding the Don universe could be 'gimmicky'. He advised the team about his exit, putting an end to his involvement in the project.
Meanwhile, Farhan Akhtar is occupied with his upcoming female-centric film, "Jee Le Zara", featuring Katrina Kaif, Priyanka Chopra, and Alia Bhatt. The movie is scheduled to commence filming in November, targeting a release in 2024. On the other hand, Shah Rukh Khan is currently busy shooting for his film "Jawan", alongside Nayanthara and Vijay Sethupathi.
