Scorsese backs Bollywood’s ‘Homebound’ for Cannes

Legendary filmmaker Martin Scorsese has joined Bollywood director Neeraj Ghaywan's upcoming film "Homebound" as executive producer, ahead of its world premiere at this year's Cannes Film Festival.
Starring Janhvi Kapoor, Ishaan Khatter, and Vishal Jethwa, "Homebound" is backed by Karan Johar's Dharma Productions. Notably, the film has been selected for Cannes's prestigious Un Certain Regard section.
Karan Johar announced the news on Instagram, sharing a note from Scorsese, who praised Ghaywan's craftsmanship, recalling his admiration for the director's debut film "Masaan". Scorsese also mentored the "Homebound" team through screenplay development and editing.
Neeraj Ghaywan expressed his gratitude, calling the collaboration "an honour beyond words." The announcement has sparked excitement across Bollywood, with stars like Zoya Akhtar, Vikrant Massey, and Manish Malhotra congratulating the team.
While the film's plot remains under wraps, "Homebound" is already one of the most anticipated premieres of the festival, running from May 13 to 24.
