‘Saatao’ screening again in Sirajganj
Released on January 27, crowd-funded film "Saatao," directed by Khandkar Suman will be screening again from today at Roots Cine Club in Sirajganj.
The director revealed to the media that the film initially faced obstacles that prevented its theatrical run, leading them to resort to alternative screenings in different districts. Despite the challenges, "Saatao" received a remarkable response from the audience. Recently, Cineplex Roots Cine Club from Sirajganj approached the team expressing their desire to screen "Saatao" at their cineplex.
Even after winning the Jury Award in the Bangladesh Panorama section at the 21st Dhaka International Film Festival, the film faced reluctance from cinema hall owners. The absence of prominent star actors in the film became a major deterrent for theater owners. Consequently, the film had a limited release, screening in fewer theaters across the country.
At its core, "Saatao" embodies the universal struggles faced by farmers and marginalized women, resonating with audiences on a profound level.
Apart from directing the movie, Khandkar Suman also wrote the story, screenplay, and dialogue for "Saatao". The film stars Sabera Yasmin, Tashmita Shimu, Mitu Sarkar, and many others.
