Recently, Priyadarshan celebrated his 68th birthday where he expressed his desire to direct "Hera Pheri 3" featuring the original trio Akshay Kumar, Paresh Rawal, and Suniel Shetty.

On his birthday, Akshay Kumar extended his wishes to the esteemed director on Twitter, writing: "Happy Birthday, Priyan Sir! What better way to celebrate than by spending the day on a haunted set, surrounded by ghosts…both real and unpaid extras? Thank you for being a mentor, and the only person who can make chaos look like a masterpiece. May your day be filled with fewer retakes. Wishing you a fantastic year ahead!"

In response to Akshay Kumar's birthday wishes, director Priyadarshan hinted at an exciting development for "Hera Pheri 3". He expressed his gratitude to Akshay and proposed, "Thank you so much for your wishes, Akshay Kumar. As a gift in return, I am willing to do 'Hera Pheri 3'. Are you ready, Akshay?" He also tagged actors Suniel Shetty and Paresh Rawal in his post.

Overjoyed by Priyadarshan's announcement, Akshay Kumar responded enthusiastically by sharing a meme from his 2007 comedy "Welcome", where his character exclaims "Miracle! Miracle!" He wrote, "Sir!!! Your birthday and I got the best gift of my life. Let's do some more 'Hera Pheri 3'."

Paresh Rawal also shared his enthusiasm on X, likening Priyadarshan to a mother who introduced the beloved film to the world. He wrote, "Dear Priyan ji, you are the mother who brought this divine bundle of joy into existence! Thank you once again for taking custody of this ever-smiling baby. Welcome, sir, and bring happiness to the world once more."

Suniel Shetty also shared Priyadarshan's post, expressing his excitement by writing, "Hera Pheri aur pooch pooch!!! Let's do this 'Hera Pheri 3".

Meanwhile, Gulshan Grover, who portrayed the villain Kabira in the original film, joined in by reposting the announcement on X. He responded, "Yes, Suniel brother, absolutely! But Shetty, my brother, you didn't tag Kabira? 'Hera Pheri' without Kabira speaking?"

"Hera Pheri" (2000) follows the story of two tenants, Raju (Akshay Kumar) and Shyam (Suniel Shetty), along with their landlord Babu Rao (Paresh Rawal), all struggling financially. Their lives take a turn when they accidentally intercept a ransom call due to a cross-connection on their landline. Seizing the opportunity, they devise a plan to keep the ransom money for themselves.

The sequel, "Phir Hera Pheri", written and directed by Neeraj Vora, was released in 2006.
