People magazine crowns John Krasinski 'sexiest man alive’

After much anticipation, People magazine has named actor and filmmaker John Krasinski the Sexiest Man Alive for 2024. "The A Quiet Place" director, who is best known for his role as Jim Halpert in "The Office", was left speechless by the honour.

"Just immediate blackout, actually zero thoughts," Krasinski told People, recalling his reaction to the news. He humorously admitted, "Other than maybe I'm being punked. That's not how I wake up, thinking, 'Is this the day that I'll be asked to be the Sexiest Man Alive?' And yet it was the day you guys did it. You guys have really raised the bar for me."

At 45, Krasinski has played many iconic roles, but he says his most cherished role is that of a family man. He's been married to British actress Emily Blunt for 14 years, and they share two daughters, Hazel, 10, and Violet, 8. The actor was particularly eager to share the news with Blunt. "There was a lot of joy involved in me telling her," he said.

Blunt joked that if her husband won the title, she would "wallpaper their house" with the People magazine cover featuring Krasinski. The actor also spoke fondly of his marriage, adding, "It's that beautiful thing where when you're married to someone, you're constantly learning and changing and evolving. And I'm so lucky to go through all that with her."

He lightheartedly mentioned that this new title might shake things up at home. "I think it's going to make me do more household chores," Krasinski joked.

Previous actors to receive the title include Patrick Dempsey, Paul Rudd, Idris Elba, Channing Tatum, Hugh Jackman, and Ryan Reynolds, placing Krasinski in esteemed company.

While many remember him as the lovable paper salesman Jim Halpert in "The Office", Krasinski has expanded his career far beyond comedy. He's taken on action roles, like starring in Michael Bay's "13 Hours" and portraying Jack Ryan in the Amazon Prime hit series "Jack Ryan".

In addition to acting, Krasinski has made a name for himself as one of Hollywood's most successful filmmakers. His latest film "IF", which he wrote, produced, directed, and starred in, was a box office success. Krasinski also directed "A Quiet Place" and "A Quiet Place Part II", both of which starred Blunt and became major hits.
