‘Nirvana’ wins award at Eurasia International Film Festival
Bangladeshi filmmaker Asif Islam's film "Nirvana" continues its winning streak. It received the Special Jury Award for the third time, this time at the 17th Eurasia International Film Festival in Kazakhstan. Although the director could not attend the award ceremony in person, he shared a short video message from Bangladesh.
"Thank you so much for this award. I'm sorry I couldn't be there in person. Winning the third Special Jury Award for 'Nirvana' is incredibly meaningful for our team. My heartfelt gratitude goes to the special jury and the Eurasia International Film Festival for their love, support, and hospitality," the director expressed.
While he was unable to attend the award ceremony, he did participate in the film's special screening on November 25.
Prior to its success at the Eurasia International Film Festival, "Nirvana" had already gained international acclaim by securing the Jury Prize at the Moscow International Film Festival.
"Nirvana" also won its second Jury Award at the Ganges-sur-Seine International Film Festival in France.
This silent film portrays the poignant journey of three factory workers, relying entirely on visual storytelling without dialogue.
Starring Priyam Archi, Fatema Tuz Zohra, and Imran Mahathir, the black-and-white film—shot on a limited budget—delves into themes of grief, loss, and self-discovery.
