Mosharraf Karim takes on stand-up comedian role in Chorki’s ‘Dimlight’

For the first time, popular actor Mosharraf Karim will be seen playing the role of a stand-up comedian, earning his livelihood by making people laugh. He will take on this fresh and unconventional character in the Chorki Original film "Dimlight", directed by Saraf Ahmed Zibon and produced under the banner of Chabial.

Chorki's verified Facebook page first teased Karim's return on 20 November, posting, "Mosharraf Karim is returning to Chorki in yet another new avatar! But with what?" To spark further curiosity, another post on 23 November added, "Life is a joke, and the biggest joke is the midlife crisis." These posts gave audiences an early glimpse into the theme of "Dimlight".

"Dimlight" is part of Chorki's Ministry of Love project, which explores various facets of relationships. The official poster, released on 25 November, confirmed the film's theme with the caption, "Midlife crisis—oops, Dimlight crisis!" Director Saraf Ahmed Zibon explained that the film symbolically presents a midlife crisis as a "Dimlight crisis," with Karim portraying the person experiencing it.

Zibon, who also plays an important role in the film, said, "In extremely bright light or complete darkness, nothing is visible. To see clearly, we need balanced, moderate light. Our lives are full of problems—some visible, some hidden. 'Dimlight' helps the audience understand those unseen problems in a simple way. I hope viewers grasp the significance of this 'dim light'."

The story is driven by Mosharraf Karim's character, supported by actors Tanzika Amin and Parsa Evana. Reflecting on the story, Amin said, "I felt this story is very timely and needs to be told now. These are events I have seen and experienced, familiar to the audience as well—it's life itself. That's why I became interested in this project." Evana added, "It's a very fresh story, with confusion, humor, and crisis, yet relatable. It tells the story of the life we lead in a simple and straightforward way." The film marks Evana's first appearance on Chorki.

Karim shared his unique perspective on the narrative, saying, "Life is covered in layers—from everyday wrappings like sugar, toothpaste, or school fees for children. Relationships get hidden beneath these layers, where there are neither flowers nor fragrance. These layers gradually cover love, making it difficult to find. Sometimes it takes a jolt to realize the essence of life. The moral of life is calm and composed."
