Mosharraf Karim to play Hajari Thakur in 'Adarsha Hindu Hotel'?
"Adarsha Hindu Hotel", an iconic novel by Bibhutibhushan Bandyopadhyay, is set to make its way onto screens once again, this time through an OTT platform. The novel, originally published in 1940, weaves the captivating tale of Hajari Thakur, a humble hotel cook, who harbours ambitious dreams of owning his hotel one day. Undeterred by opposition from his co-worker Padma and owner Bechu Chakraborty, Thakur began his journey to establish his own hotel.
Sources confirmed that the popular actor Mosharraf Karim is stepping into the shoes of Hajari Thakur. Arindam Sil is set to helm the project, and the series will be released on the OTT platform.
National Award-winner Ananya Chatterjee is reportedly in consideration to play the character of Padma. While the shooting was initially scheduled to commence in September, it has now been rescheduled to begin in January.
The literary gem has been adapted for screens on multiple occasions. In 1957, Ardhendu Sen directed a film adaptation of it, starring Chhabi Biswas, Dhiraj Bhattacharya, Sabitri Chatterjee, Jahar Ganguly, and more.
Several years later, Manoj Mitra portrayed the character of Hajari Thakur in Raja Sen's television adaptation of "Doordarshan".
