Mehazabien, Tasnia Farin and Sabila Nur condemn Meril-Prothom Alo Award nomination

Mehazabien Chowdhury, Tasnia Farin and Sabila Nur have released a statement condemning the absence of Best Actress nominations in the TV series/Limited feature film/ short film category. 

Prothom Alo released the nomination list in their newspaper, in which it was seen that the jury board couldn't name the nomination for the category for Best Actress. This led to uproar on social media. 

Here is the following statement:

"Meril Prothom Alo Awards is one of the biggest award ceremonies of all time. The award is a reflection of the hard work that our artistes put in throughout the year. This award inspires us to give our best and dedicate ourselves to the craft. 

However, we were shocked to see that the esteemed jury board couldn't find any actress to be nominated for Best Actress in the TV series/ Limited feature film/ Short film category. 

A lot of TV series were produced in 2022 and the jury released nominations for Best Actor, Director, and Scriptwriter but left out the Best Actress for Television.

Who are the nominees of Meril-Prothom Alo Award 2022?

Such instances will only encourage other makers and platforms to back out from female-driven contents. Nowadays, female artistes are working hard to break out from the conventional genre and pursue stories with strong protagonists. It's really humiliating for women artists. 

After the pandemic, Bangladesh has witnessed a lot of wonderful works, where our actresses have given their best performance. 

I mean, after the global pandemic, in Bangladesh, especially in the last one year (2022), many good dramas have been seen where our actresses have given many good works; Through their acting skills and carrying significant characters.

Although our judgement of acting may be different from the juries. We are requesting the jury board to give us proper guidelines as to how we should act so that we can satisfy you with our work in future. 

I really hope the authorities will take notice of this so that we can get inspired to give our best in the future.
