Mehazabien starrer ‘Saba’ set to release in Bangladesh

Mehazabien Chowdhury made her big-screen debut last year with the film "Priyo Maloti". However, her first film is actually "Saba".
After travelling through international film festivals, the much-anticipated film is finally ready for release in local theatres. Yesterday, Mehazabien announced on social media that "Saba" will soon hit cinema halls across the country. Directed by Maksud Hossain, the film has already gained significant international recognition.
Speaking to Ajker Patrika, director Maksud Hossain confirmed that the film is prepared for theatrical release. "The release date will be announced soon. We are planning for either the end of September or the beginning of October," he said.

The film tells the story of Saba, the daughter of a middle-class family in the city. After losing her father, she becomes the only source of support for her mother, Shirin, who is wheelchair-bound following a road accident. Struggling with financial hardship, Saba sacrifices her own ambitions to care for her ailing mother. When Shirin suddenly suffers a heart attack, doctors insist on surgery, leaving Saba devastated and desperate to find a way to save her mother.
"Saba" had its world premiere at the Toronto International Film Festival in September last year. Since then, it has been showcased at nearly a dozen prestigious festivals, including Busan, Red Sea, Gothenburg, Sydney, and Raindance. Alongside Mehazabien, the film also features performances by Mostafa Monwar and Rokeya Prachy.
