Mehazabien issues official statement over ongoing case
Mehazabien Chowdhury has issued an official statement addressing the case filed against her and her 19-year-old brother in March 2025, calling the allegations "baseless" and entirely unsupported by evidence.

The complaint was lodged by Amirul Islam under Sections 107 and 117(3) of the Code of Criminal Procedure against Mehazabien and her brother, Alisan Chowdhury.
In her statement, Mehazabien said the complainant claims to have been involved in "business dealings" with her since 2016. However, she noted that he has failed to provide any proof of communication—no Facebook messages, WhatsApp chats, phone records, screenshots, or any indication that she ever responded to him.
She also pointed out that the complainant has not submitted complete identification documents, including his national ID, and that since news of the case surfaced yesterday, both he and his lawyer have switched off their phones.
According to the case documents, Amirul alleges that he had known the siblings for years and was encouraged by Mehazabien to invest in a family business. He claims to have given them Tk 27 lakh—both in cash and through mobile financial services—with the promise of becoming a business partner.
The actress categorically denied receiving Tk 27 lakh from him, stating that there is no record of any financial transaction. She said the complainant has failed to produce bank statements, cheques, bKash records, written contracts, receipts, or witnesses to support his claims.
Another allegation—that Mehazabien, her brother, and others blindfolded Amirul and took him to a restaurant in Hatirjheel on February 11—also remains unsubstantiated. She noted that Hatirjheel is one of Dhaka's most heavily monitored areas, yet the complainant has not produced any CCTV footage, witness testimony, or corroborating evidence.
Mehazabien added that she has not received a single phone call from any police station or court over the past nine months regarding the case. She stated that she would have taken legal action much earlier had she received proper notice.
Despite describing the case as baseless, the actress said she followed legal procedures and secured bail after learning of the arrest warrant. "A case filed without evidence can never become the truth," she said, expressing confidence that the facts would become clear in court.
She urged the public and the media to remain compassionate and refrain from rushing to judgment without knowing the full story. Reflecting on her 15-year career, she described the need to publicly defend herself against an unverified complaint as "the most painful part."
