Live Action 'Spider-Man Noir' series in development at Amazon

In 2009, Marvel's Noir universe launched with the first issue of the Spider-Man Noir comics. This Spider-Man character, who lives in 1930s New York City, was bitten by a spider that was concealed inside a stolen relic. He then sees visions of a spider god bestowing superpowers on him.

"Spider-Man Noir", a black-and-white version of the superhero inspired by pulp explorers from the 1930s, is slated to appear in his own live-action TV series on Amazon.

In 1930s New York City, the untitled series will follow an older, grizzled superhero. The show will be set in its own universe according to a source, and Peter Parker won't be the main character.

This is the second project based on Sony-controlled Marvel characters that will be available on MGM+ and Amazon Prime Video. Several additional shows are in the works, and it was recently revealed that Amazon was pushing forward with the show "Silk: Spider Society" from creator Angela Kang. Sony owns more than 900 of these Spider-Man-related characters, but it's not clear yet which other Marvel characters will show up in the other Amazon shows.
