The acclaimed actress and film producer Reese Witherspoon recently took to Instagram to reveal that Lexi Minetree has been chosen to portray Elle Woods in the forthcoming "Legally Blonde" prequel series, "Elle". The show will follow Woods during her high school years before she went off to Harvard.

"Allow me to introduce you to the new Elle Woods! After reviewing countless outstanding auditions for the upcoming 'Elle' prequel on @PrimeVideo, we have finally found our leading star. And today, I had the privilege of sharing the exciting news myself," Witherspoon wrote in her caption.

In the video Witherspoon posted, she is seen having a conversation with Minetree before delivering the thrilling announcement.

"We had a tough decision to make recently, and we wanted to share the news with you personally because you've put in so much effort. And we just wanted to say—you don't have to audition anymore. You got the role. You are Elle Woods," Witherspoon told her.

Overcome with emotion, Minetree tears up before excitedly expressing her desire to call her mother and share the news.

"When I watched her audition, I thought, 'Are we the same person?'" Witherspoon joked to Minetree's mother after she pointed out how similar their voices sounded.

Witherspoon, who first brought Elle Woods to life in the 2001 hit "Legally Blonde" and its 2003 sequel, has been open about the meticulous process of finding the perfect actress to take on the iconic role.

During an appearance on "The Tonight Show" Starring Jimmy Fallon, Witherspoon expressed her excitement about the casting journey, stating, "Watching all these audition tapes has been such a delight. I adore every single one of them—they're all doing an incredible job."

The upcoming series will be executive produced by Witherspoon through her production company, Hello Sunshine.
