Harrison Ford to retire from Hollywood for good?

Harrison Ford is reportedly arranging to bid farewell to Hollywood, although he has one final silver screen role ahead.
The 82-year-old screen legend is set to make his Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) debut in the forthcoming "Captain America: Brave New World" as General Thaddeus 'Thunderbolt' Ross.
This character was previously played by William Hurt, who passed away in March 2022. However, the "Indiana Jones" star has confirmed that this will likely be his final performance before retiring from the industry.
In an interview with The Wall Street Journal, Harrison Ford revealed that his next move is to step away from acting for good. "I want to finish what I'm doing," he shared. "I'd like to spend more time flying and with my family at home. There's a lot in my life beyond movies."
Ford's last outing as the legendary archaeologist in "Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny" faced a lukewarm reception, bringing in just $60 million during its opening weekend in 2022.
According to a source who spoke to Radar Online in 2023, the disappointing response took a toll on the veteran actor. "Harrison is used to seeing 'Indy' as one of cinema's most beloved heroes. This kind of rejection has been tough for him, and at 81, he feels it's time to step away."
Reflecting on his final adventure as Indiana Jones, Harrison Ford shared his personal motivation behind returning to the role.
"I was the one who felt there was another story left to tell," he explained. "After everything [Indy] had been through, I wanted one last chance to pick him up, dust him off, and send him back out there—this time a little worn down—to see how he would fare." Despite the film's mixed reception, Ford added, "I'm still happy I made that movie."
The veteran actor has faced similar criticism before, particularly when he reprised his role as Han Solo in "Star Wars: The Force Awakens" (2015). Even some of his more recent projects have struggled to resonate with audiences.
Taylor Sheridan, the mastermind behind the "Yellowstone" franchise, has chosen to bring the curtain down on the spin-off series "1923", which features Harrison Ford as Jacob Dutton.
"Taylor believes he has told the story he set out to tell and has no interest in extending it," a source revealed to Knewz.com.
"Despite facing significant pressure to continue, given "1923's" massive commercial success, he's standing firm on his decision."
