Every character tells a different story and that excites me: Tanzika Amin
For actress Tanzika Amin, acting has always been about exploring the many shades of human experience. Over the years, she has earned audiences’ affection through her performances across television dramas, films, and OTT platforms. This Eid, however, viewers will see her exclusively on television.
So far, Tanzika has completed shooting for three Eid dramas. One of them, titled “Chhitkini”, is directed by Sagar Jahan and stars Farhan Ahmed Jovan opposite her.
“The story of ‘Chhitkini’ is wonderful,” Tanzika said. “I believe audiences will truly enjoy it. I was personally very impressed with the script.” The drama also marks her first collaboration with Jovan. “This was my first time acting opposite him, and it was a lovely experience,” she added.
Alongside “Chhitkini", she has completed two more dramas for Eid, both scheduled to premiere on YouTube channels. One of them features Tawsif Mahbub.
Speaking about the projects, Tanzika emphasised the diversity of the roles she has taken on.
“In the three Eid dramas, I’ve played three completely different characters. None of the stories or roles resemble one another, which made the work incredibly enjoyable,” she said.
In one of the dramas, she portrays a pregnant woman — a role she found particularly compelling. “It turned out to be a fantastic project. The character was challenging but very rewarding to portray,” she noted.
Beyond television, Tanzika is also awaiting the release of her film “Robi in Dhaka”, directed by Rajib Saleheen. The film is scheduled to hit cinemas during Pohela Baishakh.
“The story of ‘Robi in Dhaka’ is quite engaging,” she said. “Pohela Baishakh is such an important celebration for us, so releasing the film at that time feels very special.”
Another film she has worked on, titled “Jhamela”, is also awaiting release and is expected to arrive in cinemas during Eid ul-Azha.
“The story follows a woman who remarries after divorcing her husband,” Tanzika explained. “As the narrative unfolds, she begins to question whether her earlier life was better or her new one. It’s a story filled with emotional tension and self-reflection.”
Having worked in countless dramas throughout her career, Tanzika says she still feels a deep curiosity about the characters she can portray in the future.
“As we move through life, we encounter so many different personalities and stories,” she said. “I want to bring those characters to life on screen. There’s no end to dream roles for an actor.”
She also expressed interest in portraying literary characters from well-known stories and novels.
“There are many famous characters from literature that I haven’t had the opportunity to play yet. I would love to explore those roles as well,” she said.
Away from the camera, Tanzika plans to spend the Eid holidays in Rajshahi at her parents’ home. Her husband is expected to return soon from Sydney, and the couple plans to celebrate the festival there together.
“I’ll celebrate Eid in Rajshahi with my husband. I’m looking forward to spending some beautiful moments with my family,” she said.
Meanwhile, March 5 marked Tanzika’s birthday. The actress revealed that she prefers to celebrate the day quietly with her loved ones.
“I’ve always spent my birthdays with my family,” she said with a smile. “This year was no different. I enjoy keeping the day simple and close to the people who matter most."
