Paramount+ has officially renewed "Dexter: Resurrection" for a second season, as announced by Michael C Hall in a video shared on the show's official YouTube channel.

The revival of the hit crime drama, which premiered earlier this year, sees Hall reprising his iconic role as Dexter Morgan, the conflicted forensic analyst-turned-serial killer. The actor personally broke the news to fans, thanking them for their continued support.

"First of all, I just want to thank all the fans for tuning in and taking the 'Dexter: Resurrection' ride this summer," Hall said in the 39-second clip. "We've been greenlit for another season — there's more to come. The writer's room is assembling now, and I wanted to be the first to let you know that the story continues."

According to Variety, Paramount opened a writers' room for the highly anticipated sequel back in August, sparking speculation about a renewal.

The first season of "Dexter: Resurrection" was one of Paramount+'s biggest hits, drawing 4.4 million viewers across multiple platforms when it premiered in July. It currently ranks No. 5 on IMDb's list of most popular TV shows and holds a 95 percent rating on Rotten Tomatoes, according to Showmax Stories.

The series stars Michael C Hall, Jack Alcott, David Zayas, Dominic Fumusa, Emilia Suarez, James Remar, and Uma Thurman.

The Dexter franchise originally ended in 2013 after eight seasons, followed by the 2021 miniseries "Dexter: New Blood" and the prequel "Dexter: Original Sin".

With "Dexter: Resurrection" now confirmed for a second season, fans are already speculating about where Dexter's story — and his dark passenger — will head next.
