Critics Choice Awards: ‘One Battle After Another’ wins best picture
"One Battle After Another" emerged as the top winner at the Critics Choice Awards today (January 5), taking home the prize for best picture. Its filmmaker, Paul Thomas Anderson, was also honoured with the award for best director.
"Sinners" followed closely with four wins. The film earned the newly introduced best casting and ensemble award, presented to Francine Maisle. Miles Caton was named best young actor or actress for his performance, while Ryan Coogler won best original screenplay. Ludwig Göransson claimed the award for best score.
In the film acting categories, Timothée Chalamet won best actor for "Marty Supreme", while Jessie Buckley secured best actress for "Hamnet". Jacob Elordi received the best supporting actor award for "Frankenstein", and Amy Madigan won best supporting actress for "Weapons".
Television honours were led by "Adolescence", which was named best limited series. Its cast members Erin Doherty, Stephen Graham and Owen Cooper won acting awards, alongside Sarah Snook for "All Her Fault". "Jimmy Kimmel Live!" was recognised as best talk show.
Drama series acting awards went to Noah Wyle and Katherine LaNasa for "The Pitt", Tramell Tillman for "Severance", and Rhea Seehorn for "Pluribus". In comedy, "The Studio" won best comedy series, with acting awards going to Seth Rogen and Ike Barinholtz from the show, as well as Jean Smart for "Hacks" and Janelle James for "Abbott Elementary".
In the animation category, "KPop Demon Hunters" won best animated feature, while its song "Golden" was named best song.
Chelsea Handler returned to host the ceremony for the fourth consecutive year. This year's awards also introduced four new categories: best casting and ensemble, best variety series, stunt design and sound.
The 31st Critics Choice Awards were broadcast live from Santa Monica's Barker Hangar on E! and USA.
