The iconic Bangla spy character Masud Rana is finally making his way from the pages of books to the big screen.

Production houses Impress Telefilm and Jaaz Multimedia have officially unveiled the first-look poster of the upcoming film adaptation “Masud Rana” ahead of its Eid-ul-Azha release.

Sharing the poster on social media, Jaaz Multimedia wrote, “From the pages of books to the silver screen — Masud Rana is returning in the familiar form beloved by Bengali readers. Inspired by the classic cover designs of Seba Prokashoni, the film’s first official poster has now been revealed.”

The poster has already sparked widespread discussion online, particularly among longtime readers nostalgic for the signature artwork style associated with Seba Prokashoni.

Back in 2020, Jaaz Multimedia announced plans to produce two films based on the legendary spy character created by Kazi Anwar Hossain. While “MR-9: Do or Die”, directed by Bangladesh-born Hollywood filmmaker Asif Akbar, was released in 2023, director Saikat Nasir’s “Masud Rana” project remained delayed for years.

Producer Abdul Aziz has now confirmed that the film is finally set for release during the upcoming Eid-ul-Azha holiday season.

According to the producer, Kazi Anwar Hossain himself approved the screenplay before his passing. He also described the project as one of the most expensive productions undertaken by Jaaz Multimedia.

The film stars Russell Rana in the title role of Masud Rana, while Puja Chery appears as Sohana. Actor Sayeda Towhida Huque plays the character Obonita.

The producers said the film will be released in multiplexes and theatres across Bangladesh during Eid-ul-Azha.
