Bubly reunites with Raihan Rafi for ‘Pressure Cooker’

Shobnom Bubly has begun shooting for a new film just days after wrapping up work on another project, marking a particularly busy phase in her career.

The actress recently completed shooting for Rasheda Akter Lazuk-directed "Shapla Shaluk", where she stars opposite Shajal Noor. Although some portions of the film are still left to be shot, Bubly has already moved on to her next assignment. From Monday (January 5), she officially joined the shooting of Raihan Rafi's new film "Pressure Cooker", reuniting with the director after nearly three years.

Bubly and Raihan Rafi last worked together in the Chorki-produced film "7 Number Floor". Her performance and choice of character in that film drew praise from both audiences and critics, and their reunion has since generated renewed anticipation.

Speaking to Prothom Alo about the new project, Bubly said she was drawn to the story and the scope it offered. "I really liked the story. The character is also very interesting. It felt like there was an opportunity to do something new here—that was what attracted me the most," she said.

Although shooting for "Pressure Cooker" began a few days ago, Bubly joined the unit from Monday. According to the schedule, she will work continuously for several days before taking a short break, after which the remaining portions will be completed in a second lot.

Sources close to the production said the film's most distinctive feature is its women-centric narrative. Departing from the conventional hero-driven format, "Pressure Cooker" revolves entirely around female characters. Alongside Bubly, the film also stars Nazifa Tushi and Mariya Santo, with the story unfolding through their journeys, conflicts, and everyday pressures.

While the film centres on women, it will feature one key male character. Speculation suggests either Zahid Hasan or Chanchal Chowdhury may take on the role, though the director and production house have declined to comment.

Produced by Impress Telefilm, "Pressure Cooker" is slated for release this Eid-ul-Fitr. The release is significant for the production house, which is returning to the Eid theatrical slate after 21 years. Impress Telefilm last released an Eid film in 2004 with "Kokhono Megh Kokhono Brishti".

This Eid, Bubly will be seen in two films, as Zahid Jewel-directed "Pinik", opposite Ador Azad, is also awaiting release.
