As Britain's railway network prepares to celebrate the 200th anniversary of modern railways in 2025, it has announced a thrilling partnership with Yash Raj Films (YRF) to commemorate 30 years of the iconic Bollywood classic "Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge" (DDLJ).

A crucial aspect of this initiative highlights the significance of trains in the iconic film, which not only marked a milestone in Hindi cinema but also strengthened its bond with British culture.

The film, starring Shah Rukh Khan and Kajol, was largely filmed in the UK, with one of its most unforgettable scenes taking place at King's Cross Railway Station — this historic London landmark is where the protagonists have their first encounter.

As part of the "Railway 200" campaign, Yash Raj Films (YRF) will showcase the musical "Come Fall In Love - The DDLJ Musical" to honour both milestones. The production will be directed by Aditya Chopra, the visionary behind "DDLJ".

Set to debut at the Manchester Opera House on May 29, 2025, the production aims to capture the film's magic on stage with an English-language performance and an original score.

The story of the film follows Simran, a young British Indian woman, who is initially engaged to a family friend in India through an arranged marriage but later falls in love with a British man named Roger.

The musical will showcase 18 original songs, composed by Vishal Dadlani and Shekhar Ravjiani, with the book and lyrics penned by Nell Benjamin, known for her work on "Mean Girls" and "Legally Blonde".

As part of this cultural collaboration, immersive experiences will be held at railway stations in Manchester and London, giving fans and travellers a chance to relive the romance and charm of train journeys—further linking the UK's historic railway system with the legacy of "DDLJ".

"Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge" is more than just a movie—it stands as the longest-running film in the history of Indian cinema.
