Audiences in Kolkata cheered, gave standing ovations for ‘Shurongo’: Tama Mirza
The blockbuster Eid release, "Shurongo," starring actor Afran Nisho and Tama Mirza, has not only taken the Bangladeshi audience by storm, but has now ventured into West Bengal, India. With the movie being screened in 31 theaters in West Bengal since yesterday, the film's stars and crew are witnessing the wave of appreciation firsthand.
Speaking from Kolkata, Tama Mirza shared the overwhelming response from the movie's premiere in the bustling city.
"We have arrived in West Bengal before the release of 'Shurongo'. People were talking about 'Shurongo' before its release which really caught my attention," Tama stated.
"The premiere left the audience in awe, with standing ovations and cheers echoing through the theater as the film unfolded scene-by-scene. I am really happy and impressed by watching the response of the Kolkata audience," Tama added, thanking the audience there.
This is the first time a film by Tama Mirza has been released in Kolkata. When asked about her feelings, she replied, "I can't describe my feelings in just few words. I am very happy and excited."
Afran Nisho, who has significant following in Kolkata, is also relishing the warmth of his admirers in the city. Tama Mirza praised Nisho's immense popularity and shared the delight of witnessing his bond with his fans.
Back in Bangladesh, "Shurongo" continues to amaze the local audience, running successfully for the fourth consecutive week. From its modest beginnings in a few halls, the film has now expanded to 50 theaters across the country. "This is a very happy news," Tama expressed, "It's a reflection of people's love for 'Shurongo' and Bangladeshi cinema."
"Shurongo" also released in United States and Canada. Yesterday, the movie has been released in 53 theaters in New York and Los Angeles, and 15 theaters in 12 Canadian cities. Tama Mirza jubilantly termed this achievement as "a big moment for Shurongo and Bangladeshi cinema."
The film will also grace 104 theaters across 28 states in the United States and England from July 28.
Tama Mirza concluded with gratitude and excitement, acknowledging the extraordinary time that "Shurongo" is experiencing.
"My journey with this film has been nothing short of remarkable. I am thoroughly enjoying the whole process," Tama added.
