Bangladeshi artist Jahangir Hossain's solo exhibition starts in Bahrain

Renowned Bangladeshi artist Jahangir Hossain's solo exhibition "Hope for Life" has commenced at the Bahrain Art Center in the capital Manama.

Bahrain Authority for Culture and Antiquities (BACA) and the Embassy of Bangladesh have co-organised the 15 days exhibition which will run till November 29.

The inauguration ceremony which was held at Monday (November 15) showcased the presence of eminent guests such as Farah Matar, Director of Culture and Arts Department at the Bahrain Authority for Culture and Antiquities (BACA), and the Ambassador of Bangladesh to Bahrain, Dr Muhammad Nazrul Islam, along with a number of noted cultural personalities.

A solo exhibition by Bangladeshi artist Jahangir Hossain at the Art Center in Manama, the capital of Bahrain.

Jahangir Hossain has been working as a freelance artist since 1984. This is the first time that the artist is participating in an exhibition in Bahrain. Earlier on, he had participated in various exhibitions in Bangladesh, as well as abroad.

The exhibition will showcase 71 artworks by the noted artist. His painting which is a fusion of both Western and Eastern culture represents the beauty of rural women in Bangladesh and the wondrous culture of village life. There is also a portrait of the Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman. All of the paintings are being highly appreciated by the foreigners and Bangladeshi expatriates living in Bahrain.

The exhibition aims to shed light on the power of human communication in overcoming the challenges of the global health pandemic.

Regarding his artwork, Jahangir Hossain said, "My artwork is all about human action and emotions. I try to portray people's emotion through my paintbrush. I also try to highlight Bangladeshi culture through abstract style," mentions the artist.

Jahangir Hossain also added that his artworks are inspired by Oxford Gallery and that he wants to showcase his work across the world.

Dr Muhammad Nazrul Islam, Ambassador of Bangladesh to Bahrain, also talked about the art scene in Bahrain.

"Bahrain has a rich and vast history of art and culture. It has superseded other countries in order to showcase their love for various forms of artwork. One such example is them jointly arranging a solo exhibition with a famous artist from our country, mentions Nazrul Islam.

The exhibition is open for all and it will run daily from 9 am to 8 pm until November 29.
