Renowned author Rakib Hasan, the creator of the beloved teenage thriller series "Tin Goyenda", has passed away. He breathed his last at Gonoshasthaya Nagar Hospital in Dhaka on Wednesday afternoon while undergoing treatment.

Dr Mohibullah Khondaker, Vice Principal of Gonoshasthaya Medical College, confirmed the news to The Daily Star. He said, "Rakib Hasan used to come to our hospital regularly for kidney dialysis. He came today as well, but he passed away shortly before the dialysis began."

Rakib Hasan was born on December 12, 1950, in Cumilla. Due to his father's transferable job, he spent much of his childhood in Feni.

He completed his schooling there and later enrolled at Victoria College in Cumilla. After finishing his studies, he joined the workforce, but none of his jobs could hold his interest for long. Unable to adjust to the rigid nine-to-six routine, he eventually left everything behind to pursue writing.

It was then that he discovered his inseparable bond with his identity as a writer and chose it as his profession. Over the decades, he became a beloved author for readers across generations.

Rakib Hasan began his literary journey with Seba Prokashoni, where he wrote and translated over 400 books under various pen names. He started by translating world classics and went on to write numerous popular series, including "Tarzan", "Goyenda Raju", and "Reza-Suza".
