A Dhaka court today granted bail to singer Mainul Ahsan Noble, in a fraud case filed with Motijheel Police Station. Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Md Shafiuddin passed the order after his lawyer submitted an application, seeking bail in the case.

Earlier in the day, Humayun Kabir, an inspector of the Detective Branch (DB) of Police, along with the investigation officer (IO) in the case, produced Noble before the court, upon completion of his one-day remand. In the forwarding report, the IO said he interrogated Noble on a one-day remand, where he gave important information about the incident which was being verified. Therefore, the IO appealed to the court to confine Noble in jail until the investigation is complete.

On Saturday, Noble was placed on a one-day remand after he was produced before another court, with a three-day remand request. Earlier that day, the DB arrested him in connection with the case filed by Safayet Islam, a former student of Shariatpur's Bhedarganj Headquarter Pilot Government High School, on May 16. According to the case statement, it was alleged that Noble, on March 25 this year, signed a contract promising to perform a live programme at a school in Shariatpur, scheduled for April 28.

The complainant was present at the court today and in his statement, he shared that he had received BDT100,000 and that he had no objection if Noble received bail.

The singer took an advance payment of BDT 172,000 in several phases from the organisers, but did not show up at the event. This resulted in problems for the organisers, according to the case statement.

Noble, who shot to fame in 2018 and 2019 through the Indian musical reality TV show "Sa Re Ga Ma Pa", has been involved in several controversies recently. He behaved erratically and tried to break the microphone stand on stage during his performance at the golden jubilee programme at Fulbari Degree College of the Kurigram district on April 26. A video clip of the incident had gone viral on social media.
